Ayurveda Stewed Fruit Dessert Recipe

Ayurveda Stewed Fruit Recipe

Try this delicious and nutritious ayurveda stewed fruit recipe perfect for dessert or snack anytime of year. It's perfect when you're craving something sweet, tangy, and hydrating.  Include any of your favorite fresh pitted or dried fruits along with a handful of raisins, shredded coconut, enough water to cook them and a pinch of your favorite “spice bread” spices. Simmer them on low for 5 minutes or so until they reach a desired consistency. You may garnish with a pinch of fresh ginger, cardamom and a squeeze of lime and honey. Soooo delish! And so good for keeping bowels consistent as it's loaded with fiber. Fruits are considered incredibly sattvic meaning they promote calmness and peace of mind. This really hits the spot for vata reducing dessert as it is sweet, juicy, sour, warm and filled with fiber.

Combine a few of each of the below fruits (whatever you have on hand is fine). With enough water to simmer and a few cloves, 1-2 star anise, and 1 cinnamon stick. Cover and simmer 5-10 minutes until soft and delic!
🍓Peaches or nectarines (when in season)
🍓Plums or prunes
🍓Berries (blue, strawberries, blackberry, raspberry, cranberry)
🍓Raisins or Craisins (handful)
Remove from heat and stir in pinch or two each of:
🌿 cardamom powder
🌿 fennel seeds
🌿 fresh ginger
🌿 salt
*Optional: Garnish with a handful of shredded coconut, granola or rolled oats, nuts of choice, a squeeze of lime juice and dollop of ghee and honey (to taste)
